Cellist Michael Graham studied at the Eastman School of Music and Yale University, where he was a founding member of that institution’s first secret chamber music society, Skull and Bows. His instructors included Stephen Doane and members of the Amadeus, Cleveland, Tokyo, Emerson, and Kolisch string quartets.

Mr. Graham has toured and recorded with artists from Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg to John Densmore of the Doors, including performances with Yo-Yo Ma, Joan Baez, John Williams, Rita Moreno, Isaac Hayes, and Weird Al Yankovic. His playing has been hailed by the San Francisco Classical Voice for its “almost painfully pretty…expressive richness”, and by the San Jose Mercury News as “super-good”.

Michael Graham is a cellist and a cello teacher who performs frequently with the Oakland Symphony, the San Francisco Ballet, the New Century Chamber Orchestra, in San Francisco productions of Broadway musicals, and on tour with singer/songwriter Van Morrison.

About Evie Ladin:

Banjo player, singer, songwriter, percussive-dancer, choreographer and square-dance caller, Evie has always been surrounded by music – credit to her upbringing as daughter of an international folk dance teacher, and an old-time folk music devotee, she grew up thinking that playing music, dancing, singing with others was what people do. The polyrhythmic heat of Evie Ladin’s clawhammer banjo, resonant voice, real stories and rhythmic dance have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Lincoln Center, Celtic Connections to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Brazil to Bali. A prolific creator and gracious facilitator, Evie grew up steeped in traditional folk music/dance up and down the East Coast, bringing a syncretic vision to new work while holding fast to the roots.

SAM REIDER is a pianist, accordionist, composer, and educator from San Francisco, California. His work brings together various streams of American music, from jazz and folk tunes to popular song and contemporary composition. He has appeared as a bandleader and soloist at major festivals and venues around the world and his performances and original compositions have been featured on NPR, PBS and the BBC.

Alisa’s Embracing Roots Violin Concerto for Quintet with the Town Quartet at St. Aiden’s Church in San Francisco. The concert starts at 7:30pm.

With a musical palette that seamlessly blends vivid shades of jazz, blues, Afro-Caribbean and contemporary classical music, clarinet master Beth Custer is one of the most vital and productive composers on the Bay Area scene.

Celebrating the release of her newly published songbook All Hands on Deck, Custer performs an evening of original songs and instrumentals.

Joining Custer for the All Hands on Deck concert will be guitarist/vocalist David James, drummer John Hanes, bassist Lisa Mezzacappa, and many special guests.

Glenview Classical Series is proud to present a program of folk-inspired music, featuring great local musician, Alisa Rose! She will play her original violin concerto, accompanied by Town Quartet. They will also play string quartet pieces by Corelli/Geminiani, Korngold, Bridge, and series co-founder, Derek Sup.

Town Quartet was founded in 2012 when they started their weekly Sunday residency at the Musical Offering Cafe in Berkeley. They play music both new and old, popular and obscure, and are on the forefront of the collective movement to reframe classical music for the modern age. Although they play various stops on the local concert series circuit, they are more known for organizing their own concerts at venues like the Musical Offering Cafe, Vessel Gallery, and Omni Commons.
